This small, two storey country house, belonging to artists, is an exceptional and unusual hideaway, for just two persons, far from it all, high on the hills looking back at Frigiliana’s tumbling, white houses glowing at the foot of the mountains, to the coast of Nerja, and beyond to the sea shimmering in the distance. It lies some 25 minutes’ drive (15 Km) from the village of Frigiliana down a country track. The building has been restored by the owners using old materials and styles, coupled with their own craftsmanship – the floors are inlaid with wood and interspersed with patches of pebbles, reminiscent of African tribal art, the impressive handrail of the stairs bears the owner’s hallmark as a fine sculptor, being crafted in the shape of a sheaf of corn. The furniture, the indoor and outdoor sculptures, are all handcrafted artwork and combine to make an intimate and interesting environment to get away from it all, to wonder at the peace and stunning views of this location. The antique wooden front door, from a raised terrace across the front of the building, leads into an open plan living / kitchen / dining room on the ground floor, with an open fireplace for warmth in the winter months. The kitchen has all modern appliances including oven, micro, fridge and washing machine. The shower bathroom, also on the ground floor, is very streamlined in modern, minimal style (shower, basin, WC). The double bedroom is on the upper floor and has an east facing balcony with panoramic views. Across the small track which passes the house is a seating area, with table, chairs and built-in BBQ and a new and stunning long deep pool in the shape of a keyhole or Arabic arch, coloured granite black to melt away into the environment and keep warm in the cooler seasons, and in infinity-style with the water disappearing over the edge seemingly to nowhere.
